Quartet among the elite after record relay time
GUILDFORD & Godalming Athletics Club’s U20 women’s 4x100m relay team have broken a national record.
They actually broke the record in July but have only just found out the news.
Megan Hildrew, Jemma Wood, Ellie Grove and Olivia Okoli competed in the invitation Club Connect relays, which were held at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford as part of the Diamond League meeting last month.
Not only did they win their race, but the club have this week been informed the team’s time of 45.75sec broke the national record for an U20 club team.
This result now makes them the fifth fastest senior team in the country, the four ahead of them being international quartets.
The women are now the second fastest U20 team – the fastest being the GB team that won a bronze medal in the U20 European Championships and of which Okoli was a member.
She also came fourth in the individual 100m.
