Molesey stars at world finals
MOLESEY Boat Club will again be strongly represented at the team GB squad prepares for the Rowing World Championships.
The heats begin at Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida on Sunday, after the venue escpaed severe damage from Hurricane Irma, which it was expected would hit the area.
And seven members of the Molesey club will be among the British contingent which has prioritised World Championship gold this year.
Sam Scrimgeour will be part of the lightweight men’s pair and Surbiton Olympian Moe Sbihi will be part of the men’s four squad.
Henry Fieldman will cox the men’s eight and Rebecca Girling will be in the women’s fours boat. Clubmates Anna Corderoy and Oliver Stanhope will be representing Molesey and GB in the para events, in the women’s and men’s fours and Oliver Wynne-Griffith, from Guildford, is among the reserves. The Molesey rowers will be joined in the GB squad by Shepperton’s Mathew Tarrant, who will be in the men’s fours crew along with Sbihi.
And Tom Barras, from Staines, is GB’s men’s singles rower.
