AEG FOUNDED
Made by gamers, for gamers, Alderac Entertainment Group was founded in Ontario, California by John Zinser, Dave Seay and Jolly Blackburn.
Originally founded to publish gaming magazine
Shadis, the company was one of the first to release a CCG in the wake of
Magic: The Gathering’s
success. Named Legend of the Five Rings, the game saw reasonable success and won multiple Origins
awards, leading to the popular RPG system and many other card games and RPG systems.
The company has had many significant releases over the years, with highlights including Kennerspiel winner
Istanbul, the first English printed release of popular light deduction game Love Letter and the company’s best selling product, meme-crashing card game free-for-all, Smash Up.
With workers around the world connected virtually to the main headquarters (still found in California), the company continues to champion innovative games that make the most out of cards and cardboard.
