Take a Break Fate & Fortune

RUNNING TO THE RESCUE

A jogger in the park turned out to be an angel in disguise.

Oh no, what’s he seen?’ I chuckled as my dog Coco dashed off into the bushes. Thinking he’d gone after a squirrel, me, my husband, Tony, and mother-in-law, Florrie, chased after him, but he’d vanished.

I began to panic. We were in Stanborough Park in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, and it was massive. How would we ever find my cheeky chihuahua Jack Russell cross?

‘Let’s split up,’ I suggested, after half an hour of searching.

As the others headed off, I started imagining all sorts and began to cry.

Coco was the most important thing in my life.

My lovely pup had helped me beat depression, which I’d suffered with on and off for years, by giving me the motivation to get out and about.

He’d helped me open my heart to my loved ones, too.

Before I’d got him two years earlier, in July 2014, I found it really hard to say ‘I love you’ to anyone. Now, thanks to Coco, I said it to those I cared about all the time.

‘Coco, come back,’ I wailed, now, feeling desperate.

I searched and searched… but nothing. What if someone had snatched him or, worse, been involved in an accident?

What felt like hours passed.

‘Please angels,’ I called. ‘Bring him back safely. I can’t live without him.’

Suddenly, out of nowhere, a man in a grey tracksuit ran towards me. He had dark hair and piercing blue eyes.

‘I’ve seen a chihuahua running up and down the hard shoulder of the motorway,’ he told me. I felt sick.

Telling me not to worry, the stranger beckoned me into the woods where, at the back, I could see a gap in the fence.

Then suddenly…

‘Coco!’ I cried, as he magically appeared by my feet.

Scooping him into my arms, I felt elated as we walked back to the path.

‘I prayed to the angels and you appeared,’ I told the man. ‘You’re an angel thank you!’

The man gave a strange knowing smile and said nothing.

‘You found him!’ Tony gasped, running over.

‘I didn’t… he did!’ I said, gesturing to the… I jumped in shock, the man had vanished! ‘Who did?’ Tony said, confused. ‘There’s no one here.’

‘Yes, there was, they were with me as you came over!’ I insisted. But Tony shook his head. He was certain I’d been standing alone.

I was baffled. What’s more, when we walked around the other side of the park to where the man had come running from there wasn’t an entrance!

‘How strange,’ I said. But deep down, I knew what had happened.

Angels had protected Coco and reunited me with him. My prayers had been answered.

I’ve always believed in angels, but never until that moment did I realise I could connect so strongly to the heavenly realms. The angels heard my call for help and, quite literally, sent one running to my aid!

He had helped me open my heart
