Take a Break Fate & Fortune

BRANDED! Spook left me black and blue

Even doctors were baffled by my injuries. Was a nasty spirit to blame?

Asudden crash from the kitchen drowned out the sound of the telly. Rushing in, I found a cereal bowl in shattered pieces on the floor. It had been knocked off the worktop where I’d left it… but by whom? I lived alone.

It was April 2020 and I’d only been living in my home for a few weeks when all the spooky goings on kicked off.

Already the blind in my living room had been ripped down by unseen hands and I kept hearing what sounded like 10 voices calling my name.

I’d brushed it off, until now... I believed in the paranormal, even completing a course in mediumship at the London College of Psychic Studies after losing my fiancé Mark in a motorcycle accident seven years earlier. I hoped to contact him, but I’d had no signs… until now.

Except this didn’t feel like him. Whatever it was seemed sinister.

Then, three months later, I woke to see a horrible looking woman hunched at the end of my bed. Dressed in a grey dress and pink cardie, she flashed me a hideous yellow-toothed smile before vanishing. I was petrified! ‘I can’t sleep at night and I’ve been hearing voices,’ I told the doctor, worried I was going mad.

After giving me a thorough check up, he was certain nothing was wrong so sent me home with sleeping tablets.

‘The place is haunted, I just know it,’ I told my mum, who told me not to be silly.

But as the months rolled by, more strange things kept happening.

I’d feel a hand slowly smoothing down my leg or something poking me in the back. Other times, I’d wake up with scratches on my back.

Then in November, I woke one morning and gasped in horror as I peeled off my pyjama top.

My boobs were covered in bizarre circular marks.

‘It looks like someone burnt you,’ my doctor said. He called in his colleagues for a second opinion, but everyone was stumped as to how the marks had got there.

But I knew. It was the ghost. It had branded me while I’d been asleep.

I still had over a year left in my contract for the property, but I was too scared to stay there any longer. So I moved back to my parents’ house in Wokingham, Berkshire, leaving behind a Ring camera in the living room so I could monitor the ghostly activity from afar.

Nothing happened at first… until I was woken at 3am one day in December by a notification on my phone, saying that the camera had detected movement.

Watching the live footage, my jaw dropped.

An orb was floating around the room and I could see a dark figure in the doorway.

‘Mum, look at this!’ I cried, waking her up.

We sat up for hours watching it – and now everyone believed me. My sister Nisha even paid £200 for an ex-police officer to sweep the flat to make sure no one had broken in to play pranks on me. ‘It’s all clear here,’ he told me. But not of evil spirits. No way would I stay another night there on my own – it’s too scary.

I can’t wait until I’m free of that place for good.

I’d feel something poking my back
