Take a Break Fate & Fortune

A warm RECEPTION

A phone call out of the blue took me on a journey I’d never forget.

Dad’s voice sounded worried. ‘My heating’s been playing up,’ he told me over the phone. ‘We keep waking up to find it hasn’t come on and when I checked the thermostat it was turned right down.’

So Dad had turned it up again – only to find it had been turned all the way down again overnight!

Mum swore she hadn’t touched it so now Dad suspected something paranormal was going on.

‘Can you have a look?’ he asked.

I’ve always been able to sense energies when visiting old buildings, leading to me taking a course in remote house clearing, where you visit a place in your mind to remove spirits.

That was two years ago, but I hadn’t had the confidence to try it out for real.

‘I can,’ I said, reluctantly. ‘But I’m not promising anything.’

So I closed my eyes and pictured myself walking into Dad’s home in Weymouth, Dorset.

This is silly I told myself, as I ‘looked’ round his living room.

I wasn’t expecting to see anything so I was shocked when I went into Dad’s conservatory and spotted an elderly gentleman sitting on the sofa.

Dressed in a grey suit, he had a wooden walking stick resting on his knee and looked rather sorry for himself.

‘I’m looking for my daughter,’ he told me, smiling sadly.

‘I don’t think she’s here,’ I replied in my mind, offering to open a door to the spirit world so he could find his other spirit family members.

He agreed, so I pictured a door opening, before a woman’s voice called; ‘Dad?’

A middle-aged lady with shoulder-length brown hair popped her head through the door. ‘There you are!’ she gasped, before looking at me. ‘We’ve been looking for him for ages!’

Walking over to the man, she gently helped him to his feet and led him to the door, before mouthing ‘thank you’ to me. Then they vanished.

With that, I found myself back at my house, 170 miles away in Chatham, Kent.

Dad was still waiting patiently on the phone.

‘That’s amazing,’ he said, when I told him. ‘He must’ve been messing with the heating to get our attention.’

Dad’s heating went back to normal after that. What’s more, when I told my partner Martin about it, he confessed he’d seen the outline of a man sitting on the same sofa when we’d visited the previous week.

‘I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want to freak you out,’ he said.

In that split second, I realised what had happened had been real!

Since then, I’ve helped remove other spirits in Dad’s home, including a little boy who switched on his electric toothbrush, and a dark energy at my friend’s house. With each case, my confidence builds. Decades ago, a psychic friend told me the strange tingly feeling I get around my head sometimes is spirit drawing near. Now it all makes sense, but it took me to come to them, not the other way round!

He looked sorry for himself
