Take a Break Fate & Fortune

Is CONFRONTATION worth it?

-

Q

I was recently given a permanent contract at work after being there on a freelance basis for a few years. I was really happy, until I told my mum who looked surprised and said, ‘Oh they wanted to keep you then?’ I’ve always had a reputation for being a bit scatty among my family and they sometimes tease me about it, but this really hurt. She’s 80 so I don’t want to make a big fuss but I’m finding it hard to let this go. Can you see from my favourite teacup if I should tell her how I feel?

Anne, 39, Exeter, Devon

A

My heart sank when I tuned in to the photo of your teacup. I can feel the upset her words have caused you. A father figure in spirit tells me you need to let it go and, like you’ve already said, don’t cause a fuss. Writing down your thoughts and emotions and perhaps doing some journalling will help clear your mind of her words. Instead of confronting her, put your energy into thinking happy thoughts and preparing yourself to really take off and shine in your career. The next three years are amazing for you in this area and your mum will be eating her words soon enough!
