Viparita Karani is a simple yoga pose and, as well as relaxing your nervous system ready for some shut-eye, it will redirect your energy towards different chakras or energy centres in your body, including your third eye chakra, which is thought to be responsibl­e for insight and psychic ability.

Lie on the floor, on your back, near a wall. Move your hips close to the wall and rest your legs vertically above your hips against the wall.

Relax every part of your body as you close your eyes and breathe in and out, slowly and deeply through your nose.

Remain in this posture for 10-15 minutes before bending your knees and pushing your body away gently from the wall.

Practice nightly to help you ‘log off’ before you nod off!

Please note, people with high blood pressure, hernias and eye conditions including glaucoma or detached retinas, should avoid this posture.
