Another chance at love
I’d lost my husband of 18 years, but healing was on the cards.
My husband, John, looked up from his hospital bed. ‘Everything OK?’ he asked. For a moment I wasn’t sure what to say. Then I took a deep breath.
‘I’m telling you this because I want you to fight,’ I said honestly. ‘The doctors say you aren’t going to make the weekend…’
Just a week or so earlier he’d gone into hospital to have excess fluid, caused by liver problems, drained from his abdomen.
A few days later he’d returned for checks and had a massive stroke in front of the doctor, thought to have been caused by coming off his blood thinners for the operation.
We’d already known John wasn’t the healthiest man, with heart issues, Type 2 Diabetes and non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver, but we’d never thought him close to the end.
We’d been together since I was 19, when John had come to work for my dad’s bus company.
Although 24 years older than me, I’d soon fallen for his sense of humour and kind, generous nature.
Our daughter, Saffron, was born in 1999 and we’d married a year later. I couldn’t imagine life without him.
Sadly, John drifted into a coma a few days later and passed away a day after that, Saffron and I at his side. He was 64. On the night of his death something told me to go to the local Spiritualist church in Swindon.
When the very first message came through from the platform Saffron and I gasped.
‘I’ve got a gentleman here who passed not long ago,’ the medium said. ‘He had diabetes and a heart condition. I’m being shown a ring, a watch and a German Shepherd...’
Saffron’s hand shot up. I’d had a German Shepherd when I met John, and he’d given Saffron his watch and ring to look after in the hospital.
‘That’s my dad. He passed today,’ she said.
‘Your dad’s telling me he’s all right, everything’s OK, you’ve no need to worry,’ the medium said kindly.
A few months later Saffron booked a phone reading with a psychic named Kerin Webb, who said he was being shown a belt by John.
‘I’m wearing Dad’s belt right now!’ she gasped.
Impressed, on John’s anniversary, I booked a reading with Kerin myself.
This time he mentioned a Roy Orbison song John had loved.
By now I was developing spiritually and, two years on from John’s death, I asked Kerin to help with a charity psychic night I was running.
As soon as I met Kerin in person
I was floored. It was like we’d known each other forever! Before long we’d started dating and he proposed on Glastonbury Tor in June 2019. We married that December. In August 2020 we published a love oracle, Soul Connections – When Two Hearts Meet.
But we didn’t stop there. Keen to help others who’d experienced grief and pain, we created the Power of Healing Guidance oracle. Published in December 2021 the deck aims to promote a sense of wellbeing.
I’ll always miss John, but thanks to Kerin I’m now helping others like me.
