Take a Break Fate & Fortune

Rock-solid FRIENDSHIP

Were healing crystals the answer to making my dog happy again?

- By Donna Scott, 33

My dog, Rita, lay curled up on the sofa looking glum. Poor thing, normally my lively whippet would be bouncing happily around the room, but the death of her playmate Ernie had changed all that. He’d died after being hit by a car near our home in County Durham.

The two dogs came from the same litter and were inseparable, always cuddled up together.

‘Oh Rita, how can I bring back your sparkle,’ I sighed, stroking her soft head. Maybe a new playmate would help? My husband Darren and I decided to get Frankie, a gorgeous blue and white whippet, in the hope the company would cheer Rita up.

How wrong I was! In fact, Frankie’s presence had the polar opposite effect – he seemed to annoy her. Excitable and always on the look-out for mischief, he was just too wild!

I had to find a way of making things work between them. But they were so different, I didn’t know where to begin.

Until, browsing Facebook, I came across Cosmic Club, a page run by a lady called Emma Foster. It was all about the healing powers of crystals, but there was a bit about how they could help dogs, too, by balancing their emotions and reducing stress. In fact, Emma herself had used them to settle her own two rescue dogs into their new home.

Willing to give anything a go, I bought some small crystals to put in a little pendant the dogs could wear around their necks. I opted for a mixture of Black Tourmaline, Shungite, Magnetite and Pyrite, said to help with grounding, hyperactivity and anxiety – just what they needed!

‘Let’s see what happens!’ I said to Darren, attaching the pendants to Rita and Frankie’s collars.

A non-believer, Darren just smiled. But not for long, as soon we saw a marked

improvement in Rita and Frankie’s behaviour towards one another.

They were like different dogs! Whereas Frankie would normally go racing off, running around the living room, he instead settled down by Rita, who nuzzled him gently. They were friends, at last!

Now, I pop the pendant accessories on the dogs for a few hours every day, being careful not to leave them unattended, and I really notice the difference.

When Rita is wearing her crystal, she has far more tolerance for Frankie when he’s running riot. She also becomes that little bit more independent from us, which is lovely as it makes her less anxious.

Frankie is far more chilled when wearing his. In fact, he often settles down for a nice quiet nap! The difference is amazing. The effects last even when they’re not wearing them, until it’s time for a top-up.

Losing a pet is never easy, but knowing Rita is happy again makes it easier.
