Take a Break Fate & Fortune

KNIGHTMARE in the bedroom

Why was my husband under attack and was I the only one who could see his ghostly assailant?

- By Bev Mann, 59

‘Night, love,’ I said, giving my hubby Simon’s hand a squeeze.

‘Night…’ he replied drowsily. It was nearly midnight. We were both whacked and I was soon asleep.

Suddenly, I woke with a jolt.

A rush of wind was blowing through the bedroom, the curtains flapping wildly, but it was a cold Winter’s night outside – the window was firmly shut.

I sat up. Something was wrong.

Just then a large shadow of a man burst through the window – a knight on horseback – shot straight across the room, and landed on Simon’s back.

Simon let out the most blood-curdling scream, his body violently shaking.

‘Get it off me!’ he shrieked. My mild-mannered husband had never been in such a frenzy.

By now, I couldn’t see the knight, but I could sense him, wrestling with Simon.

The scuffles and screams continued. After a few minutes Simon calmed. He wasn’t physically injured, but it took him a while to catch his breath.

‘Something, on my back, was attacking me!’ he gasped.

‘It was just a dream,’ I soothed, as he turned over and fell back to sleep.

For the rest of the night, though, I sat bolt upright, staring at the window. What the hell had happened?

The next morning Simon seemed to have forgotten about the incident, so I didn’t mention it.

Besides, he had an appointment with a chiropractor, who also practised energy healing, about muscle pain – he hoped to ditch his painkillers.

As he headed for his appointment, a business call came through on his mobile. Simon dealt with it as quickly as he could, strolling in, phone in hand.

‘Sorry I came in with someone,’ he apologised to the chiropractor, turning his phone off.

The chiropractor eyed him up and down. ‘You did indeed,’ she smiled.

‘I can see something on your back.’

Simon shrugged, assuming she was referring to stress at work.

She spent the next three hours working on him. At the end of the session, she told Simon: ‘Whatever was on your back, it’s gone now.’

The healer had known nothing about the incident I’d witnessed the night before – even Simon couldn’t remember it – yet she’d seen something. Was it the knight I’d seen wrestle with Simon? And if so, who or what was it? Simon had been having a stressful time at work, so I wonder if it was his own anxious energy ricocheting around the room.

Or, was it really a dark knight who came to visit us…
