Take a Break Fate & Fortune

The POWER of attraction

I manifested a holiday romance, then there was no stopping me – money, success and more! By Radhika Sanghani, 32

Adjusting my sunglasses, I flipped another page of my holiday read. I was 22 years old and sprawled on a beach in Barcelona, soaking up the rays.

The book was called The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. About the Law of Attraction, I’d found it in my flatmate’s room.

Anyone watching me closely would have spotted my sceptical smirk. The book claimed if I desired something, all I had to do was believe I already had it, feel all the positive feelings this led to, then simply ‘let go’. And my desire would simply come true.

‘If only,’ I thought. ‘If life was that simple, we’d all win the Lottery!’

One of my fellow Sun worshippers was a gorgeous guy. I’d been eyeing him up for the past hour.

‘Hmm,’ I thought. ‘Let’s see if this Law of Attraction stuff works!’

Feeling slightly ridiculous, I visualised him talking to me and ‘let go’, I opened my eyes and waited.

Five minutes later, he caught my eye and grinned.

‘Can I join you?’ he asked.

Apparently, he was a model from South Africa. We went for drinks at a fabulous flamenco bar. I had officially manifested a date!

It was just a holiday flirtation, but what stayed with me was the power of manifestation, and it’s transformed my life since.

When I’m having a quiet month as a freelance writer, I turn to manifesting. After a couple of days of channelling positivity, I find I have offers of work.

I do a vision board every birthday to focus on what I want that year, and I practise manifestation meditations whenever I want to make something a reality. I also regularly write cheques to myself for work projects.

In 2019, when I wrote a novel about a woman going on a journey of self-love and exploring manifestation, among other spiritual things, I wrote a cheque to myself from the universe for a generous sum, which I hoped I’d one day receive for the book.

A year later, a major publisher offered me the exact amount I’d written on that cheque! Nobody knew what that sum was, but me.

You can manifest anything – you just have to truly believe it will happen.

I’ve carried on using manifestation for my love life too. During the pandemic dating felt impossible. But I still managed to manifest a boyfriend!

That relationship has now ended – as lovely as he was, we were at different life stages.

I plan to keep on manifesting – for a TV show, a bestseller and, yes, another relationship. Let’s just hope the universe is listening!
