Was I good enough for her?

could not have been detected. There was no pain, it just meant that her heart was weak and eventually failed. The suddenness of Sookie’s passing could not have been prevented.

She says: ‘I loved Sian’s company! Humans didn’t faze me.’ I have no idea why, but Sookie is showing me the Jack of Hearts card. She says: ‘I miss having snuggles! I hope Sian is OK. I know she misses me.’

Sian says:

Ah, I am pleased to hear there was no pain. I worried I should have picked something up about her health and neglected her by not taking her to the vet. As for the Jack, she did pick up a Christmas card and run off with it once. Perhaps that’s it? It’s just lovely to hear from her!

I lost my best friend Wiley almost two years ago. I’d had him for 12 years after a friend rescued him from a group of boys being cruel to him. I was smitten from the off! I miss him so much.

Claire Stokes, 47, Cardiff

Texas says:

Wiley is incredibly emotional on connection. ‘I miss Claire massively!’ he says. You were his best friend and he hated being parted from you. He says he has palled up with a portly black Labrador and a friendly Collie, but that there are lots of other dogs running around too.

Wiley used to watch your every move. ‘I loved our escapades,’ he tells me. He says you must not feel bad as it was his time to pass. Finally, Wiley tells me he tries to enter your dreams to let you know he is OK.

Claire says:

This is so comforting. He came everywhere with me – so I’m not surprised Texas mentioned our adventures. Weirdly, my brother’s dog, a Collie, died a few months before Wiley. How lovely to think about them tearing around together!

Toni Stanton’s dog Tilly from Birmingham says:

‘I am with another pet – a ginger guinea pig. I am fascinated by it and can’t stop staring at this creature! There is lady who helps look after me too. But it is my job to care for the guinea pig.’
