Take a Break Fate & Fortune

SPOOKY signs

I asked the universe for guidance and was stunned by what I saw next… By Marie Fletcher, 59

-

My mum, Pat, was living with me while she battled bowel cancer and I decided to spruce up her bedroom.

‘What flowers would you like?’ I asked her.

‘Blue roses,’ she replied.

I’d never heard of blue roses so I bought her a bunch of mixed colours.

Tragically, Mum died at 64. That very day, a hearse drove past me full of blue roses.

I was gobsmacked, but decided it was just a coincidence.

Then I learnt that blue roses were made by dyeing white ones, so I had some made for Mum’s funeral.

Later, I read The Secret and it talked about getting signs from the universe.

OK then, universe, give me blue roses, I thought.

A few days later, I was driving home when I saw a trail of plastic blue roses across the road.

Another coincidence?

Then, as I stepped out of my car one day, there was a blue rose at my feet…

Three sightings of blue roses? Maybe I needed to start paying attention to the universe.

One day, my sis, Trisha, and I decided to take flowers to Mum’s grave.

On the way, I made a detour to visit our Auntie Betty. Then Betty asked me to run an errand for her.

Are we ever going to get to

Mum’s grave? I thought.

As we drove along the road, Trisha pointed at a car registration in front of us.

‘Look!’ she exclaimed.

C2 MUM, it read.

‘The universe wants us to go to Mum!’ I said.

When Auntie Betty sadly passed away, I sorted out her funeral.

Driving home from the funeral parlour, I worried about whether I’d made the right decisions.

‘I hope you like what I’ve just arranged for you, Betty,’ I whispered.

Suddenly, I was stopped at a traffic light and noticed the car registration in front was XX64 BET.

My eyes welled up.

I was born in 1964. This was a message clear as day from her, saying ‘Kiss kiss, Marie, Betty.’

‘So you do like the arrangements,’ I smiled.

After Betty’s cremation, Trisha, our cousins and I went to a local pub.

When we sat down, I took out a framed picture of Betty from my bag and placed it on the bar.

‘Oh my God,’ Trisha said. I followed her gaze to a picture on the wall with a huge letter B on it.

‘She must approve of us coming here,’ I laughed.

Now, I’m always on the lookout for signs because you never know when the universe will hear you!
