Two arrests made after police attend ‘stabbing’
TWO people have been arrested after reports of a “stabbing” in Stockton.
Officers were called to Hardwick shops in the early hours of yesterday morning, after police were made aware of a man with injuries to his hand and back, consistent with a stabbing.
Enquiries led to the identification of two suspects – and several officers were then deployed to the Hardwick shopping parade.
Police erected a cordon around the front door of a property, with images from the scene showing blood spatterings on both the outside of the flat, along the concrete, and marks on the door.
A crime scene investigation van was also spotted at the rear of the property, with an officer seen carrying out evidence bags.
Cleveland Police has now confirmed that a 40-year-old woman and a man, aged 60, were arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent.
They are both currently in police custody for questioning.
No information has been provided by the force regarding the condition of the injured man.
The incident meant that the nearby Hardwick Barber Shop was forced to close, due to its close proximity to the crime scene.
A statement on the firm’s Facebook page said: “Sorry for any inconvenience.
“But due to not being able to get access to the shop because of an incident in one of the flats and the police cordoning off the area, we will open at 12pm today. Thank you.”
