THE TRAMP GALOP
Just visible in the music cover to Charles Godfrey’s The Celebrated Tramp Galop, is the signature ‘F Sexton’. The image shows the Scots Fusilier Guards on parade by a thatched cottage and church. Three young girls look on and a small dog seems to be barking at the officer leading the march. Charles Godfrey was the regiment’s bandmaster, his publisher being Cramer & Co, Ltd of 201 Regent Street, London. The Scots Fusilier Guards was re-designated as Scots Guards in 1877.
