THE PARIS BAND MARCH
The Tricolour flies high in the wind as His Imperial Majesty Napoleon III returns the salute of an officer during a march past of Zouaves. Mounted on a white horse, the French emperor holds his only child, Napoléon Eugène Louis Jean Joseph Bonaparte the Prince Imperial wearing a military uniform, in his lap. Published by Brewer & Co, The Parish Band March was composed by Stephen Glover and dedicated by him to the emperor. The art and litho work was by John Brandard (his signature visible in the bottom left hand corner of the image) and M&N Hanhart. John Brandard was born in Birmingham in 1812 and was for many years well known as an excellent lithographic artist and illustrator of sheet music covers. He died in 1863.
