Written by Trumpet Major Henry Lawson and dedicated to Captain and Adjutant George Ashley Maude. Signed F Section, the artwork shows an officer with sword drawn galloping into action ahead of his battery. The publisher of the polka was Messrs Pask & Köenig of 441 Strand, London, a well-known musical instrument manufactur­er and supplier to the Army. Herrmann Köenig, the German cornetist, John Pask the English flute maker. Henry Lawson has been noted as one of the best trumpeters of his day in the country, holding the position of principle trumpet with both the Royal Artillery Band and Royal Artillery Brass Band. He was appointed as trumpet Major of the Royal Horse Artillery Band in 1845.
