GABRIELE ESPOSITO

-

Grabriele has already covered the late Roman Empire but here he turns the clock back even further to when Rome was just a force in central Italy with hordes of Celts and Gauls to the north and Greek settlers and Samnites to the south. This then, is a history of the various wars that were fought as Rome was founded then slowly united all of Italy through conquest. It wasn’t easy going, even Rome was sacked at one point, but eventually they triumphed and went on to defeat the Greeks and create the vast Roman Empire. It’s an interesting look at all the peoples of the Italian area but what really brings it to life are the countless full colour photographs of re-enactor groups in the correct armour and dress for the various tribes and regions they represent. Excellent production standards and a fascinating look at the history of early Rome.
