One of the more affordable ways to get started is with ephemera such as private studio portraits. There is also a clutch of documents, orders and photos relating to a gunner who served in Normandy and the Ardennes for €395. If you can find items linked to specific members of Das Reich, then things like Waffen-SS wound badges are very affordable.
