CAMERONIANS (SCOTTISH RIFLE)

-

Three battalions of the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) were administered by the City of Glasgow Territorial Force Association, the 5th, 7th and

8th all having their headquarters within the city. Representing the regiment in His Majesty’s Territorial Army by Walter Richards, Woodville chose the figure of a Private who is shown leaning on his rifle. He wears a green doublet with dark green facings which, according to the Army List, should place him with either the 7th or 8th Battalion, the 5th having grey with blue. He wears the regiment’s white metal star and stringed bugle-horn badge in his plain glengarry and (unseen in the picture) a blackened-metal shoulder title made up of the letter ‘T’ over ‘7’ or ‘8’, over ‘SR’.
