Prints of Richard Caton Woodville’s work, both contemporary and modern, are not difficult to find at affordable prices. Original copies of Walter Richards’s His Majesty’s Territorial Army also regularly turn up for sale, although these may set you back at anything from £150 for a set, or £25 for a single volume. But do look out for cheaper books offered in poor condition, if all you require are the prints. Sets falling to pieces and at prices far less of an assault of the pocket, but with all 32 plates present, will certainly represent good, print-for-print value to the collector. Do, however, always check with booksellers to see that all plates are present. Sadly, over the years, books such as His Majesty’s Territorial Army have had their images removed for sale individually.
