QUEEN’S TERRITORIALS
Richard Caton Woodville’s watercolour representing the Territorials of the Queen’s (Royal West Surrey Regiment) includes three officers and a regimental Quartermaster Sergeant. All wear green uniforms with scarlet facings, black patent leather belts and Pascal Lamb badges. Clearly seen on the pouch of the officer with his back to the viewer is the device of a crown over a bugle-horn. A fourth officer, mounted on the far left, is from the Royal Army Medical Corps. Note how the artist has been careful to show his helmet with a ball in lieu of the usual spike. Illustrated is the original artwork provided by the artist for His Majesty’s Territorial Army.
