The full title of this book includes the word ‘photographic’ which means there are plenty of photos showing the infantry in a variety of situations. It’s basically an exploration of how infantry was trained, equipped and used in deserts, jungle, in snow and on water. There are separate chapters just dealing with casualties, the meat grinder of Russia, northwest Europe and life in the infantry. The appendices cover tactics and equipment specifically. There are lots of photos but the reproduction is only average. Still, lots of information to be discovered.
