America’s Few
BILL YENNE
Discover the stories of American double-digit kill aviators in the Pacific. Here were members of the Marine Corps, trying to flight and fight at the end of long supply lines, against an enemy that had just wiped out half the Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor. Crucially though, the aircraft carriers were at sea and soon the young men would be fighting over Guadalcanal and New Britain. The stories include their backgrounds as well as the actions they were involved in.
The prose is perfunctory, rather than thrilling, but these are stories worth telling.
