NEXT MONTH: MARCH 2022 ISSUE
It’s Operation Anthropoid next month, otherwise known as the mission to assassinate the high-ranking
Nazi, Reinhard Heydrich. As chief of the Reich Security Main Office, the founder of the Security Service (SD) and directly responsible for the Einsatzgruppen death squads that followed the German Army, he was regarded as one of worst perpetrators of the Holocaust. Operation Anthropoid was authorised by the Czech government in exile and led to Czech and Slovak soldiers being trained by Britain’s SOE before being dispatched to Prague. Read on to discover the full story and the appalling aftermath. Also on a WWII theme we have the second feature on Soviet women, this time focussing on the roles of those manning the defences on the home front. Ed Hallett continues his webbing series by taking a look at the French TAP webbing set while from WWI there’s a feature on German rifle grenades.
On the classic side we’re focussing on the weapons used in the Battle of New Orleans, John Walters has another in his Men Behind the Gun series and Michael Stroud takes a look the castles of the Crusades.
