Egypt 1801
STUART REID
In 1798 Napoleon Bonaparte landed in Egypt to consolidate French power in the Mediterranean and also to make for India to destroy the influence of the East India Company. However, Bonaparte returned to France to mount a coup to become Emperor, resulting in the British, in 1801, sending a force to take them on. This book is the story of that campaign, that resulted in the French being thrashed, seizing the island of Malta and securing India. Lots of diary excerpts and a great read.
