The Lost Battlefields of Britain
MARTIN WALL
When the author himself says that the title is a misnomer, you realise that this book is not what you were promised. It’s an examination of various battles fought in the British Isles, hardly any of which could be described as a lost battlefield. They are all well documented. The writing of the battles is well done and interesting, but it’s all wrapped in the most self-important and indulgent posturing of the author as regards the dangers of militarism and war. ■
