Mountain Commandos at War in the Falklands
As this is the 40th anniversary of the Falkland Islands War it’s no surprise to see a few more books hitting the market. This is one from the Royal Marines Mountain and Arctic Warfare Cadre, which was basically responsible for reconnaissance in preparation for the set piece battles. Specifically, it’s the author’s own recollections of his time serving and the missions he carried out, starting with the preparation and sailing south, concluding with the Argentine surrender and the aftermath. As with all soldier’s stories, it’s periods of dull preparation and one of gripping combat action.
