An online only, timed auction was the order of the day at East Bristol, running from 22 Dec and ending on 4 Jan, at which point the highest bidder won the lot. With a BP of only 3.6% this was a chance to maybe pick up a bargain. So, how about this intriguing item to start with, it’s a 1930s German Zeppelin Airship passenger's folding clothes brush. The brush housed within a white metal case depicting the profile of a Zeppelin

Airship and a Mercedes-Benz car. The flat bristles raised to a vertical position by sliding the latch at the top of the case. A souvenir likely sold to onboard passengers, or in the hangar prior to fight. It sold for £46.62.

Another interestin­g one, a WWII British Military issue Navy Fleet Air Arm pilots Swiss-made Omega wrist watch. Black dial with Arabic numerals, Omega makers mark and broad arrow.

The stainless steel case engraved to reverse with British Government ‘HS^8’ for the Hydrograph­ic Survey. 30mm dial and in working order. It sold for £870.24.

Then there was a Third Reich German K98 rifle bayonet. The bayonet with hooked pommel with ‘WaA’ weapon office stamp, working press stud and wooden grip with rivets. It sold for £93.24.

A fair few items didn’t sell but this one found a home, it was a USAAF United States Army Air Force leather flying helmet Type A-II. Brown leather outer, chamois liner and rubber ear pieces. USAAF logo stamped on the outside above the ear piece on the left side and again to the inside lining. Maker’s label sewn to inside rear. It went for £46.62.

Lastly, a nice medal grouping of Boer War and WWI medals awarded to Private J Fletcher of the Coldstream Guards. Medals comprising King and Queens South Africa medals (with clasps for ‘1901’, ‘1902’, ‘Cape Colony’, ‘Orange Free State’ and ‘Belfast’), WWI Victory Medal and War Medal, brass valise badge, cap badge and his Silver War badge. The medals framed and glazed with photocopie­s of the original paperwork. Sold for £435.12. ■
