The Armourer

Hermann Historica June auctions

-

There’s another set of four auctions from European auction house Hermann Historica, right at the end of June, so you have time if you’re reading the digital edition of The Armourer. Here are some items from the Orders & Military Collectibles from 1919 onwards on 30 June. Let’s start with a German M35 steel helmet with winter camouflage painting and curiously, a Belgian emblem. It has a full leather lining and unabridged chin strap. The starting price is €1,200.

Stereoscopic books were all the rage in the early years of the 20th century, and here we have one entitled, ‘Der Erste Großdeutsche Reichskriegertag’ which translates as ‘The First Greater German Reich Warriors Day’. It was published in 1939 by Raumbild-Verlag which specialised in stereoscopic books.

There are eight colour illustration plates, 100 photos, the 3D glasses and library stamps inside. Starting price is €100.

Now, items from the leaders of the NSDAP are still keenly sought after, and there are lots of items up for grabs. Here’s a hand-signed postcard portrait of Hermann Göring in his Colonel General Luftwaffe, light coloured uniform. Starting price is €200. If you want something signed by the big cheese himself though, here’s his scribble on a letter with his personal gold letterhead under the national eagle, dated 1937. That one starts at €600. Now, at the end of the war, there was wholesale looting of NSDAP paraphernalia, which is how there’s an apricot coloured silk nightgown of Eva Braun up for grabs. This was part of the haul acquired by Commanding Intelligence Officer of the District Greater Salzburg L. Frankenfield, who confiscated over 40 suitcases containing personal items belonging to Eva Braun, her sister Gretl Braun-Fegelein and Hermann Fegelein near Salzburg in May

1945. Get bidding at €1,200.

There are lots of medals on offer, including ones with multiple items. This one has a Reich Fire Service Badge of Honour 2nd level, Air

Raid Protection Badge 2nd level, Mother’s Cross in bronze, three Loyalty Service Badges for 25 years, two SA Sports Badges in bronze as well as membership badges. Bidding starts at €300.

Now, this issue has a War Story based around the author picking up a Death Card. Here you can bag around 700 of them in one go. Bids start at €700.
