Volunteers sought for riding group

-

It has been a very busy start to the new term for Arran Riding for the Disabled, with new children joining the established group as riders and the arrival of a new pony.

With the group continuing to grow, they could do with a few more volunteers to help on a Saturday morning.

So if you would like to join the small friendly group of volunteers, please give Sue a call on 850201 for an informal chat. Basic criteria is that you’re fit enough to run short distances. Age is no barrier and no experience is necessary as training and support are provided - and its also great fun! The group have some very exciting plans for the future, so why not come along and be part of it.

On Saturday, the group welcomed representatives from National RDA to their lessons in Lamlash. Mary Dunlop, Glasgow and west regional secretary, Penny Buchanan, regional chairman and Isabelle Thomson, regional instructor, all en- joyed their visit and were left highly impressed by the group set-up, instructors, riders, volunteers and ponies.

They also took the opportunity to present young Charlie McAllister with her trophy from the Arran Show. Charlie had attended the show with Dan, one of the RDA ponies. As well as Charlie coming away with a couple of rosettes for her riding, Dan won best pony 13.2 hands and under. A fabulous achievement for all concerned with the group!
