More success for Shiskine with Daisy Markham play

-

Shiskine SWI drama group and Pirnmill Players have been out treading the boards again on the mainland.

Both teams took part in the Argyll One Act Drama Festival in Ardrishaig on Friday April 29. The props were all loaded and everyone was ready to go when they heard they would have to take the Ardrossan ferry and drive round the long way due to a mechanical problem on the Lochranza ferry. They arrived safely and were in time for their technical rehearsals.

The Shiskine group won best dramatic production and were runners up overall for their performance of Daisy Markham, which won the Arran Drama Festival in March. It was another great festival for the Argyll ‘am-dramers’ and the Arran representatives were delighted to be a part of it.

Islanders and visitors have one last chance to see the plays on today (Saturday) in Shiskine Public Hall. Doors open at 2pm.

There will be a cream tea thrown in too, and a raffle, all for a donation on the door.

Everyone is welcome.

Ferry back in service

Arran’s summer ferry, the MV Isle of Arran, was expected to resume service on Thursday after nearly two weeks because of a propeller problem.

She returned to Scotland earlier this week and had been undergoing sea trials off Troon.
