Singer opens concert season

-

Brodick Castle has launched a series of summer concerts in the spectacular surroundings of the castle drawing room.

It is the first time in recent years the castle has staged summer concerts and they follow on from the successful concerts the castle staged at Christmas.

They start tonight (Friday) with an evening of live music with rising star Angela Paterson who will be promoting her debut album Down to the River. The album launches the recording career of the Islay singer-songwriter who sings with a honey-toned vocal style combined with elegant lyrics, all with a warmth that instantly touches the soul.

It will be followed by three other concerts in the coming weeks.

Refreshments

All are for an adult audience of over-16s as complimentary refreshments are available.

While booking is strongly advised as the intimate venue only holds around 50, a few tickets will be available on the door on a first come, first served basis. The second event will be a concert with pianist Alexander Chapman Campbell on Friday July 29 and he will be followed on Tuesday August 2 by the superb Sicilian guitarist Davide Sciacca and violinist Marianatalia Ruscica who will play classic and contemporary pieces.

The season will be rounded off on Tuesday August 9 when internationally acclaimed artists the Boyle Klöfver Duo perform in the drawing room.

Assistant manager Chris Mills said: ‘We are delighted to be staging a series of summer concerts and making use of the drawing room which is such an attractive venue. The Christmas concerts were a real success and if we can repeat that success with these concerts, there is no reason why we cannot expand them in the future.

Appeal

‘It is all about giving people a reason to reconnect with the castle and we are sure the concerts will appeal to both locals and visitors.’

All the concerts start at 7pm and more information can be found on the Brodick Castle pages of the National Trust for Scotland website.
