Janis is new champion at riding show

On Sunday July 3 Arran Riding Club held its annual show at Balgowan Farm, Shiskine.

The overall champion was Janis Murchie with Island Boy and reserve champion Laura Tulloch with Gem.

The best rider in show and winner of the Yvonne Kerr Trophy was Tracy Warwick, while Janis picked up a second top prize with Island Boy being judged in the best condition. The best turned out and winners of the Betty Smith Memorial Trophy was Tracy.

Results: Class 1 showing in-hand four years and under: 1 Hollie Adamson with Lexus; 2 Rachael Kennedy with Jack the Lad. Class 2 showing in-hand five years and over: 1 Laura Tulloch with Gem. Class 4 showing under saddle 12.2hh and under: 1 Daisy McNamara on Cadlan Valley Double Kiss; 2 Emma Henderson on Teddy. Class 5 showing under saddle over 12.2 hh, not exceeding 13.2hh: 1 Lily Currie on Missy; 2 Annie West on Harry Fudge; 3 Rosie McNamara on Paebal. Class 6 showing under saddle over 13.2hh, not exceeding 15hh: 1 Tracy Warwick on Grants Town Unique; 2 Hollie Adamson on Prince; 3 Emma Popplewell on Emma of Craignethe­ry; 4 Joolie Graham on Magnus; 5 Liz Kennedy on Scole Turbo. Class 7 showing under saddle over 15hh, not exceeding 16hh: 1 Janis Murchie on Island Boy; 2 Lois Ashley on Kippen; 3 Kirsty MacBain on Tia; 4 Faye Anderson on Red Storm Rising. Class 8 showing under saddle over 16hh: 1 Jen McNeish on Rockhill Anaman; 2 Ellis McKelvie on Bud (Weiser by Far). Class 9 best rider 10 years and under: 1 Annie West on Harry Fudge; 2 Lily Currie on Missy; 3 Rosie McNamara on Paebal. Class 10 ridden veteran (horse/pony aged 15 and over): 1 Kirsty MacBain on Akeira; 2 Lily Currie on Missy; 3 Lisa Henderson on Teddy; 4 Daisy McNamara on Cadlan Valley Double Kiss. Class 11 working/ handy hunter rider 12 years and under pony not exceeding 13.2, Arran Riding Club Trophy: 1 Daisy McNamara on Cadlan Valley Double Kiss; 2 Cara Henderson on Teddy; 3 Lily Currie on Missy. Class 13 working hunter, open, Mr Frisky Shield: 1 Jen McNeish on Tia; 2 Tracy Warwick on Grants Town Unique; 3 Ellis McKelvie on Bud (Weiser by Far); 4 Jen McNeish on Rockhill Anaman.

Arran Riding Club thanks everyone involved in making this year’s show a great success and special thanks go to George Tod for the venue. The next event in the club calendar is the jumping derby at Balgowan Farm, Shiskine, tomorrow (Sunday).
