Film festival team have scramble victory in the Cannes
Despite atrocious weather, 19 intrepid teams battled the elements at the Texas scramble at Shiskine Golf Club last Sunday.
Many others donated their entry fee to Shiskine Valley Improvements but chose not to play. This year’s fancy dress theme was ‘the movies’, with some going all out with costumes, make- up, hair and props – and some were rather more cryptic costumes which took a little working out.
Fancy dress winners this year were The Wizard of Oz with AbFab a close second. Who knew that Shiskine had its own Joanna ‘Patsy’ Lumley look-alike? Uncanny! Well done for managing to stay in character despite being soaked through.
Overall winners with 38.7 points were the Cannes Film Festival team, consisting of David Johnston, David Henderson, Danny Head and Sarah Kelso.
All the individual hole prizewinners were at the prizegiving, so they know who they are.
A huge thank you to Shiskine Golf and Tennis Club for the courtesy of the course and hire of the barbecue, to Alastair Yates for the ever faithful and much needed green refreshment tent, the two Alastairs (same one plus Gator) for erecting said tent and manning the barbecue until the arrival of the much more organised and gorgeous girls Bernie and Tina.
Come rain or shine, the barbecue and refreshment tent is a very welcome sight and every year provides great hilarity and entertainment. Finally, another huge thank you to Fraser and the Mackerel Lottery for also donating their funds this week to Shiskine Valley Improvements. Approximately £500 was raised.
