The achievement described by Russell Duncan of the Arran Golfers Association and where Russell congratulated Malcolm on Facebook said: ‘This is, in my opinion, one of the finest achievements ever by an Arran golfer and, as far as I’m aware, the first time an Arran player has gone this far in the championship. Well done Malcolm!’
Continuing his fine form, Malcolm has since finished in tied eighth place at one of the biggest amateur stroke play events at the Standard Life Amateur Gold Medal at Leven Golfing Society in Fife.
Malcolm said: ‘It has been an amazing week and while I am disappointed to have lost in the quarter finals I am still really proud to have reached that point in the game. I also very much appreciated all the various messages of support and encouragement, many of which were from Arran, that I received throughout the week and afterwards.’
