Arran products are the pride of Scotland

-

Arran continues to lead the way in food and drink, MSP Jamie Greene has said.

The West Scotland MSP made the comments after he met with representatives from the Isle of Arran Distillers at the Scottish Parliament’s whisky reception and shared a wee dram.

Mr Greene highlighted how impressed he was with the sheer quality of the whisky and said that it was another example of a small island community leading the world with its phenomenal food and drink industry. Notable

Praising not only Arran whisky, he also made mention of other notable Arran-based producers including Arran Dairies, the Island Cheese Company, Wooleys of Arran, James of Arran and the Bellevue Creamery, which won the 2017 best cheese in Scotland award at the World Cheese Awards.

Mr Greene said that Arran once again showed itself as the pride of Scotland and said more should be done to help support island residents in producing food and drink so that Arran could be showcased to the world as a leader in delicious produce.

He said: ‘It was great to welcome the Isle of Arran Distillers to the Scottish Parliament and try a wee dram of its phenomenal whisky.

‘It’s all too easy to write off small island communities, but Arran has once again proved itself to be a world leader in agricultural produce. Whether its Arran distillery, James of Arran chocolates, Bellevue creamy cheese, Wooleys’ baked foods or the Island Cheese Company. We punch above our weight time and time again.’
