Moun­tain fes­ti­val team look­ing for new friends

Or­gan­is­ers of the Ar­ran Moun­tain Fes­ti­val will meet next week to re­flect on an­other suc­cess­ful year and to launch their plans for the 13th year of the fes­ti­val in 2019.

Taking place in the Ar­ran Moun­tain Res­cue Team base in Cladach on Mon­day November 12, at 7pm, or­gan­is­ers are en­cour­ag­ing mem­bers of the com­mu­nity to at­tend the an­nual gen­eral meet­ing and to be­come part of the vol­un­teer-led or­gan­i­sa­tion.


Prior to the dis­cus­sions, Ar­ran artist and phi­lan­thropist Gor­don David­son will be pre­sented with a do­na­tion to­wards his work with Ar­ran House in Nepal – a half­way house for or­phaned chil­dren which pro­vides fa­cil­i­ties to en­gage in arts pro­jects.

With prepa­ra­tions al­ready un­der­way for next year’s Ar­ran Moun­tain Fes­ti­val, mem­bers are work­ing on a walks pro­gramme that will of­fer 154 spaces on 20 walks over the week­end of May 17 to 20 next year.

As well as be­ing an op­por­tu­nity to help shape and to con­trib­ute to the fes­ti­val, at­ten­dees can also learn about how to be­come a Friend of the Ar­ran Moun­tain Fes­ti­val which will al­low the op­por­tu­nity to book a place on walks ahead of book­ing lines be­ing open to the pub­lic

By do­nat­ing a min­i­mum of £10, as well as pro­vid­ing vi­tal sup­port to the fes­ti­val, each Friend of the Ar­ran Moun­tain Fes­ti­val will have the chance of book­ing two places per per­son on next year’s fes­ti­val walks – sub­ject to avail­abil­ity – one week ahead of the book­ing lines open­ing in mid-December 2018. They will also re­ceive a fes­ti­val supporter car sticker.

Friends forms will be avail­able at the AGM and at­ran­moun­tain­fes­ti­ and need to be sub­mit­ted be­fore Fri­day November 30.


A spokesman from the Ar­ran Moun­tain Fes­ti­val said: ‘As a com­mu­nity-based, vol­un­teer-led or­gan­i­sa­tion, we ac­tively en­cour­age lo­cal in­volve­ment and par­tic­i­pa­tion at our AGM.

‘This will en­able you to find out more about what the Ar­ran Moun­tain Fes­ti­val is all about and pro­vide the op­por­tu­nity for you to con­trib­ute your thoughts and sug­ges­tions for the fes­ti­val go­ing for­ward. We look for­ward to see­ing you at the AMRT base next Mon­day.’
