Happy visitors

The Arran Banner - - Letters -

The news this week that Arran played host to more than 400,000 visitors last year is quite a remarkable achievement.

Don’t forget this is a small island with a residential population of around 4,500 – so to cater for the needs of all these visitors takes a lot of hard work and commitment from a lot of people.

From the shopkeepers and cafe owners, campsite owners and top hotels, to visitor attractions, large and small – everyone plays their part in keeping the visitors happy and wanting to come back for more.

Then, of course, there is VisitArran who do such a splendid job making the whole operation work like a well-oiled machine.

More than 400,000 people didn’t come to Arran by accident – many could have gone elsewhere but for the promotion of all that this tiny isle has to offer.

And, of course, for many in the industry the festive time is just as busy, so we hope that they may get a little respite in January when many wind down a little and take stock for the year ahead.

And may everyone have a happy and prosperous 2019.
