Ladies raise a glass at cocktail evening

The Arran Banner - - Letters - Jenni Turnbull

Members and guests of the Shiskine Women’s Institute enjoyed an even more social evening than usual at their last meeting which took place at The Teeroom in Shiskine where the theme was cocktail/mocktails.

Adding to the fun atmosphere of the restaurant located at the Shiskine Golf & Tennis Club, hostesses Piet Johnston and Clare Buchanan persuaded their husbands, and a few of their friends, to assist as waiters for the evening.

The Teeroom’s head chef Alan Dunlop also contributed to an immensely enjoyable evening by demonstrating four simple and delicious canapés which were then served accompanied by a cocktail.

The competition winners of the evening were Alice Anderson who won the quiz, the favourite evening bag was won by Julie Wilkinson and Jenni Turnbull won the best wrapped parcel. Proceeds from the sale of the parcels will all be donated to Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).

The next meeting of Shiskine WI is on Wednesday January 9, in Shiskine hall at 7.30pm where the speaker will be Fiona Henderson. The competition is a winter soup and the exhibition will be a bracelet.

Looking the part, Ian Buchanan, Douglas Johnston, Ron Woods and David Scott were the cocktail waiters at the WI meeting.
