Pure Brass quintet perform in Brodick

-

Music Arran’s January concert will see one of the country’s top brass ensembles playing in Brodick Hall on Saturday January 19 at 2pm in a show featuring everything from showbiz classics to James MacMillan’s eclectic church music.

The Pure Brass quintet consists of Iain Archibald and Andrew Connell Smith, trumpets; Christopher Gough on horn; Christopher Mansfield playing trombone; and Danielle Price on tuba. The group was formed in 2006 at the Conservatoire in Glasgow, but now performs to critical acclaim throughout the UK.

They have played in venues as varied as St Magnus Cathedral in Orkney, St Martin in the Fields, London, and at T in the Park. They have won awards including the RSAMD Governor’s Prize for chamber music, the Mary Adams Award and the Norman Cooper Prize at the Aberdeen International Youth Festival. The programme of music will include Mahler, MacMillan, Bach, Barber, Maxwell Davies, Mascagni, Vivaldi and lots more.

Please note, this is an afternoon concert and starts at 2pm. Refreshments will be available. Tickets are £10 available online from arranevents, at Inspiratons or at the door. Children and students are free. What better to do on a cold Jan- uary afternoon to lift the post-Christmas blues?
