Sheila Margaret. Archie, Anne, Allan and Sheila wish to thank all the doctors, nurses and other staff at Arran War Memorial Hospital for the care and attention to Sheila over the past year. Thanks to Social Services, the Home Care team and District Nurses who allowed Sheila to remain at home for so long and to the management and staff of Cooriedoon Nursing home for the loving care and attention during her short time with them.
Thank you to the Rev. Angus Adamson for visits and for the moving service at the crematorium and to friends who joined us there. Thanks also to David and Clair Hendry for funeral arrangements and to those who sent messages of sympathy. £365 was generously donated, on the day, to Parkinson’s UK. Benjamin Cook 82-18=64. Sunday June 23, Marchioness of Graham Trophy, Bogey Competition, 24 played, CSS 64. Sam Tattersfield 19, four up, John May 20, three up, Iain MacDonald seven, two up. Well done to the Brodick team on beating Lamlash in the first round of the Hope Cup.

Wednesday June 19, The Ballantyne Cup, 19 played and the CSS stayed 63. After just missing out on the Seniors Open Championship, John Pennycott continued his fine run of form to win the Ballantyne Cup by one shot from Wolfi Kroner. 1 John Pennycott 14, 61, 2 Wolfi Kroner 17, 62, ACB, 3 Ronnie Mann 14, 62, 4 Kevin Jackson 10, 63. Nicol Auld’s 72 was the best gross score.
Saturday June 22, The AGA Hope Cup: Whiting Bay enjoyed a comfortable victory against Shiskine Golf Club at Lochranza and will now play the host club in next week’s semi final. Sunday June 23, The Morton Quaich: Nineteen played on a glorious morning which got even hotter as the day went on.
Refreshments in the sunshine were enjoyed at the outdoor tables behind the home green. Very entertaining, as was the tale of a past captain literally getting his knickers in a twist halfway through the back nine. But back to the golf:
David Morrison shot a fine gross 70 to win by two shots from Kevin Jackson. 1 David Morrison 11, 59, 2 Kevin Jackson 10, 61, 3 Jamie Macpherson 5, 62, ACB and lowest gross, 4 John Pennycott 13, 62. CSS came down to 62. Macic twos, Laurence Blair, Wayne Dale and Jamie Macpherson, all at the 17th.
