Parisian cafe music at Whiting Bay
Music Arran will be hosting its first summer concert of the season with a performance by Les Trois Blondes – the only ensemble in the UK specialising in Bal Musette, the French café music of Paris.
Bringing a little bit of the Parisian music scene to Whiting Bay Hall this evening (Saturday) at 7.30pm, Les Trois Blondes is a double entendre and in the context of the band, it means ‘Three pints of lager please’ and not ‘Three blonde ladies’.
Brothers John and George Burns on accordion and Fergus Wood on drums and compere, will entertain with a range of music by famous French artists, Maurice Chevalier, Edith Piaf, Hubert Giraud, Adrien Morbidelli, Toots Thielemans, Victor Marceau, as well as Django Reinhardt and some Irish and Scottish jigs. There is a strong tradition of playing this type of music with Scottish accordionists, so lovers of Scottish music will have an added element to enjoy.
