HANDBUILT BIKE SHOWCASE

-

Since the start of what we now recognise as gravel riding, there has been a constant search for the perfect bike to use. This search has been led by those who can produce their own visions, the hand-built bike builders. From workshops across the globe, bikes have been created to represent their builders’ interpretation of what a gravel bike is... drop bars, flat bars, skinny tyres, fatter tyres... nothing is off-limits.

Grinduro has always set out to be a champion of these bikes. Our courses offer no obvious solutions for bike design, forcing reasoned choices, often compromise, and sometimes just a refusal to conform to any requirement. At each round of the Grinduro series you will find within our pop-up examples of hand built and crafted bikes. We challenge our builders and artists to present what they feel is the perfect Grinduro bike.

In its third year Grinduro Scotland again will work alongside The Bicycle Academy to present 5 of the best Grinduro Bikes UK builders can offer.

• Spoon Customs - His finishing is amongst the best in the business and he has a special plan for a “monstercross” bike.

• Ted James Design - Ted’s fast enduro mountain bike will showcase his typical BMX and pirate influences.

• Pi at Clandestine - building a bike packing bike designed for epic dirt rides.

• Lucy Greaves - a promising new builder who is going to be supported by Mercredi Bikes in the quest to build the ultimate modern gravel race bike.

• The Bicycle Academy - will be showcasing their vision of a modern gravel bike and a world cup capable XC race bike with a Lefty. Rumor has it there’s a posh paint job too!

The Bicycle Academy provides frame building courses and skills masterclasses for novices, enthusiasts and pros, and fully equipped workshop hire for those who don’t have their own. They specialise in teaching and are renowned for the exceptionally high standards that our students achieve.
