Drivers urged to report potholes
North Ayrshire and Arran drivers are being urged to report potholes to the local authority.
The request came from West Scotland MSP Jamie Greene who says he has had a massive increase in communication with road users about potholes affecting the area’s roads.
Recent bad weather has only served to make the pothole situation across North Ayrshire and Arran worse with online reporting tool Fix My Street showing certain areas with intense clusters.
Commenting, Mr Greene said: ‘In recent months the number of constituents contacting me about potholes has increased dramatically and I know from my own experience the extent of disrepair some of our roads have fallen into.
‘The pothole situation in parts of Arran is particularly bad and it is often one of the first things residents raise with me about where they want to see improvements.
‘Potholes can present a serious danger to road users and the resulting damage can easily run into thousands of pounds.
‘This is why I urge residents to report potholes to the local authority using the online reporting tool on their website.
‘It is then their responsibility to investigate and mitigate the hazard.’
