- ANNE CROSSLEY

-

Anne Crossley (later Hemingway) from Kilmory, died March 8 2021, aged 79 years. Born with a twin brother in 1942, who sadly died in a snowstorm at only six weeks old. Much-loved mum to Kirsten and Simone Hemingway, beloved niece to Davie Crossley and auntie to John Allen. Annie attended Kilmory school and then Arran High School in Lamlash where she made friends with Sandra Hamilton, Rosemary Voice, Colin Hutton, Margaret McFarlane, George Lammie and many others who were to remain her friends for life. She left Arran as a young woman and travelled the world both with her husband on her own. Her sense of fun and her wicked laugh were legendary, and we will miss her.

She wrote this for her twin brother, and we feel that it is appropriate to share now:

Born together a few minutes apart, Tiny twins two beating hearts...

Born Annie and Angus on the Island of Arran on a cold February night...

Only to catch Pneumonia and both had to fight...

No chance we’ll make it through the night ...

Three weeks together was all that we had...

I lost you my little brother and today I am sad...

I know that you’re with me in all that I do...

And just wanted to say I so love you too...25/02/1942
