The Arran Banner

A good outcome

-

Sir,

What great news for many like-minded people: that Arran has successfully fought to keep their waters clean and free from the cruel scene of fish farms at Millstone Point. A Banner headline that brings a lot of cheer and joy to the people who fought so hard over these 18 months, plus all the people who were praying for a good outcome. Thank you all.

Unlike the ‘thank you’ made by Tavish Scott, the new CEO of the Scottish Salmon Producers Association, which made me squirm. He wants you to eat more salmon to give his lucrative job a boost. If he looks into a salmon pen, he could see unhealthy fish, imprisoned to a dreadful shortened life to put it mildly. The price we pay for a ‘healthy’ meal.

Supporting the wild salmon stock, which is vastly depleted, is more my style. I like to eat happy fish, thank you.

Well, I could write a page, but no need, Arran people know the score.

Yours, Edward Jackson, Glasgow.
