Appeal to support Arran Open Studios

-

A last call has been made for visitors to support this year’s Arran Open Studios event which opens a week today.

Thirty-four studios will be throwing their doors open between Friday August 13 and Monday August 16, offering visitors a look at how and where Arran’s artists create their work.

Posters, flyers and brochures are available all over the island and familiar signs indicating a participating studio will appear at road ends. These are an invitation to go in and take a closer look. Painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, stained glass, jewellery, illusThis tration, textiles, fine furniture making and wood turning of the highest quality are all represented.

Two or three studios have had to cancel due to unforeseen health or travel circumstances but more than 30 will be taking part and organisers have thrown down the gauntlet to see how many visitors can be drawn in over the weekend.

An Arran Open Studios spokesperson said: ‘We know visitors come over from the mainland and make a weekend of it and we hope locals might try and enjoy the same.

‘Pick up a brochure, visit the excellent Arran Open Studios website at www.arranopenstudios.com or our Facebook page by searching for @Arran12.

‘Arran artists are ready to welcome and impress you with a wealth and diversity of artistic talent.’
