Appeal after pensioner hurt in crash at Sannox Bridge

A pensioner was airlifted to hospital after a serious road crash at Sannox Bridge on Arran which left him fighting for his life.

Police Scotland is appealing for informatio­n following the crash which happened on Thursday August 19.

Around 2.55pm, a 71-year-old man was cycling north along the A841 at Sannox Bridge, near Corrie Golf Club, and appears to have lost control, falling onto the southbound carriagewa­y.

Emergency services attended and the man was taken by air ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment. Medical staff described his condition as critical.

Sergeant Craig Beaver from the divisional road policing unit based at Irvine said: ‘The road was relatively busy at the time of the incident, with other cyclists and motorists, and it is important we speak to anyone who may have informatio­n to help us establish the full circumstan­ces.

Dash-cams

‘I am appealing for any witness to get in touch and would also urge motorists with dash-cams, who were travelling on the A841 at the time, to please check their footage for anything of relevance.

‘Anyone with informatio­n is asked to contact Police Scotland through 101, quoting incident number 2066 of Thursday August 19, 2021.’
